Young Thug has been denied bond yet again and will remain in prison while awaiting his much-delayed trial on charges of gang activity and racketeering. for every paintingJudge Oral Glanville ruled that the rapper should remain behind bars, claiming that he would “present a significant danger to the community” and cited the prosecutor’s claims that witnesses could be intimidated.

While claiming that Young Thug (born Jeffrey Williams) has a history of intimidating witnesses, District Attorney Adriane Love alleged that the artist told a woman via text message that “sentient hoes are being darkened by them and their children.” Young Thug’s attorneys disputed the existence of the text, and prosecutors later clarified that the letter was returned in 2010.

Prosecutors also alleged that “recent conversations” with witnesses indicated Young Thug was “asking permission to harm others”. according to The Atlanta JournalLove shared an alleged quote from a potential witness: “He moves like a man behind his Million Dollar Name.”

Meanwhile, Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steele, disputed that his client posed a danger and detailed the “torturous” conditions Thug faces in prison. Not only has Thug gained “tremendous weight” from eating processed food, but he was recently hospitalized with kidney problems as a result.

“Mr. Williams’ diet is putting his health at risk,” Steele said. “Pretrial detention, Your Honour, is not supposed to harm a person’s mind, soul or body.”

Although the trial technically began in January, it has been repeatedly delayed because not a single juror was chosen. Young Thug was indicted in May 2022 after being accused of orchestrating a criminal syndicate under the banner of Young Slime Life. His lawyers argued that YSL is just a music label. YSL artist Gunna pleaded guilty to the racketeering charge back in December and was released from prison.
