Meanwhile, Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steele, disputed that his client posed a danger and detailed the “torturous” conditions Thug faces in prison. Not only has Thug gained “tremendous weight” from eating processed food, but he was recently hospitalized with kidney problems as a result.
“Mr. Williams’ diet is putting his health at risk,” Steele said. “Pretrial detention, Your Honour, is not supposed to harm a person’s mind, soul or body.”
Although the trial technically began in January, it has been repeatedly delayed because not a single juror was chosen. Young Thug was indicted in May 2022 after being accused of orchestrating a criminal syndicate under the banner of Young Slime Life. His lawyers argued that YSL is just a music label. YSL artist Gunna pleaded guilty to the racketeering charge back in December and was released from prison.
