It’s time for a family reunion for Joel and Ethan Coen, who have confirmed they’ll be back together again for an upcoming project. Or rather, someone confirmed it.
Ethan revealed in a new interview with empire (via Slashfilm) that the Coen brothers are developing a new movie together, after spending the past five years working separately from each other. For a lot of filmmakers, that’s not a long hiatus — but for the Coens, who can make more movies in a decade than most directors do in a lifetime, that time away feels like eons. It’s the longest break they’ve ever taken between projects since their first movie together, 1984’s The blood is simple.
As of now, we don’t know what to expect from the upcoming movie, and there’s no time frame until when we can expect it. It seems fan communities assumed it would be a remake movie, but we’ll likely have to wait for the official details until we hear directly from the source itself (and whenever that happens, we’ll update you here).
The Coens collaborated together in 2018 on their anthology Buster Scruggs song. They’ve kept themselves busy in the meantime with projects like Joel’s The tragedy of Macbeth And Ethan is coming Drive-Away dolls.
