Kate Bush’s 1985 classic “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” has reached 1 billion channels on Spotify. And to celebrate this occasion, the reclusive artist thanked her fans for listening to a new message that she posted on her website.

A billion streams! I have a picture of a river suddenly flooding and turning into many, many tributaries — a billion streams — on their way to the sea,” Bush said. “Each one of these streams is one of you… Thank you! Thank you so much for sending this song on this impossibly amazing journey. I’m stunned.”

The song “Running Up That Hill” returned to the cultural consciousness last year after appearing on the fourth season of the show Weird things. After the Netflix series introduced the song to a new generation, it shot to the top of the US and UK charts and inspired Bush to give a rare interview about its success. In the wake of her resurgence, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
