[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers through the series finale of Succession, “With Open Eyes.”]
Jeremy Strong has been known for his commitment to becoming his characters, so we shouldn’t be surprised that he wants to drink that disgusting juice from Succession last.
Halfway through “With Eyes Open,” it looks like things might be going Kendall’s way. He’s convinced Chef (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) to let him take over Waystar, and at their mother’s summer home in Barbados, the siblings share a moment of childlike joy as they scavenge for scraps in Caroline’s barren kitchen. Chef and Roman mop (or rather attempt to kill) Kendall with “a meal fit for a king”, mixing milk, Tabasco sauce, bread crusts, Branston pickles, raw eggs, cocoa powder, and, for Chef’s measure, spit.

Strong confirmed that he did indeed drink the mixture when he appeared on the official Succession Podcast. He said, “I don’t know how not to drink it.” “He wants it so bad he’ll drink whatever. But it was disgusting.”
“We just did it a few times, and I went outside and threw up, jumped in the ocean and washed it out of my hair,” Strong said. Still the scene – the last thing Strong, Snoke and Culkin shot before he wrapped it up Succession For goodness sake — it was a rare moment when our beloved (and not) actor could lighten up with his fellow cast mates.
“It was one of those times when I felt really allowed to have fun,” said Strong. “You know, Kieran and Sarah and I have been through a lot together. I love them so much and respect them so much. Their work has blown me away this season. But every so often, Kendall disagrees with them, or there’s a lot of tension and friction, and that’s something I need to take on myself.”
