Will Ferrell is a frontrunner to play late NFL coach, television host, and video game pioneer John Madden in a new David O. Russell, as reported by Deadline.
simply titled MaddenThe biopic will be directed by Russell for Prime Video Sports based on a screenplay by Cambron Clark. The film will focus on Madden’s post-training career, during which he created a larger legacy as a larger-than-life broadcaster and co-creator of EA Sports’ flagship NFL video game series, launched in 1988. Madden continued to lend his name and creative input to the franchise even after retiring from the broadcast booth at 2009.
“After being forced into retirement by the Oakland Raiders, former NFL head coach John Madden teams up with a mild-mannered Harvard programmer to rewrite his fading legacy by building the world’s first football video game,” Clark’s official tagline reads.

Ferrell is set to play the CEO of Mattel in the highly anticipated Greta Gerwig movie Barbieis out July 21st, and brings out the voice of a terrier looking for revenge in the sinister comedy about a talking dog. stresswhich will hit theaters this summer. He’s also set to collaborate with Reese Witherspoon in The You are warmly invited.
Meanwhile, Russell directed, wrote and produced 2022 recently Amsterdama murder mystery featuring an all-star cast led by Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington.
