Last month, Veruca Salt’s Louise Post announced her upcoming solo album, sleepwalker. Now, the leading alternative rocker reveals the record’s second single, “What About.”
sleepwalker (due June 2nd) is Post’s first record of new material since Veruca Salt’s 2015 comeback album, Stealth Notes. But unlike previous versions, writing for sleepwalker Take on a personal and intimate tone, inspiring the 56-year-old songwriter to explore new themes.
“How About” conveys this style of writing—the frank, soulful melody explores the dynamic of a “together forever” relationship that has fallen apart, leaving the protagonist in a state of displacement. Beneath the sharp lyricism, there is a bed of fuzzy guitars and ethereal accents that reinforce the message.

How about “Heal the Loss,” Post explained in a press release. “And you’re navigating the world without the person you thought you’d spend eternity with. You are trying to find your footing after the disappearance of someone you love. All remaining questions. All wonder, grievance, speculation and anger. Mostly, regrets leave things unsaid and things left unchanged.”

Post will also embark on a solo tour, which kicks off in Vancouver in June and will travel across North America.
