Saint Laurent entered the world of cinema after Hollywood stars conquered the red carpets in Cannes and elsewhere wearing creations from the legendary fashion house.
Saint Laurent Productions, a division of the iconic design house, will be produced by the company’s creative director, Anthony Vaccarello. The move also follows directors and actors who have long been a part of glitzy fashion shows, whether they’re sitting front row or making grand runway entrances with top designers.

Saint Laurent’s new film production banner will now be launched in Cannes with its first production, Pedro Almodóvar strange way of life. The short sees Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal playing middle-aged gunmen with a deep bond who reunite after 25 years apart.
The film production arm of the luxury brand also has two projects involving David Cronenberg and Paolo Sorrentino in the works. “Cess réalisateurs ne manquent jamais de m’ouvrir l’esprit, et d’une certaine manière, la vision singulière and radicale qu’ils aportent au cinema a fait de moi la personne que je suis aujourd’hui », a declaré Vaccarello dans statement.
Canadian director Cronenberg is a Cannes favorite, and he recently premiered his latest film, future crimeson the Croisette. The Italian director Sorrentino also made his Cannes debut, incl God’s hand in 2021.
The late French designer Yves Saint Laurent launched and ran the luxury fashion house with his business and life partner Pierre Bergé. Upcoming films from Saint Laurent Productions will feature Vaccarello outfits for his fashion house.
“I want to work with, and make room for, all the amazing filmmaking talent that has inspired me over the years,” Vaccarello added.
