Charlie Day is set to make his directing debut with the satirical comedy Heaven’s lieAnd, in the new trailer, he plays modern-day Charlie Chaplin who stumbles upon Hollywood success.
Day shows off his physical comedy skills in the film, playing a man who has just been released from a mental health facility despite being unable to speak or even understand what is going on around him. After being discovered by a producer (played by Ray Liotta in one of his last screen performances) as a deadbeat singer for a style actor who won’t leave his trailer, Dai Latte pronto teams up with a struggling publicist (Ken Jeong) who catapults him to overnight stardom.
According to the official plot line, “Their subsequent adventures lead them to cross paths with drunken heroes, unsedated action heroes, unpredictable directors, super-agents, and power-obsessed overlords.
