Clairo unveiled the new charity single “For Now” via Bandcamp, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit For The Gworls, which supports black and transgender people for rent coverage, gender affirmation operations and more, as well as Everytown, a coalition group. on ending gun violence in the United States.

The self-described demo, announced by the Boston-based singer-songwriter Twitter On April Fools’ Day, he offers a few tricks but instead delivers a tender vocal tone that embodies the fleeting bliss of a new romance. Backed by spare instrumentation aside from a rock-keys-based base and some light woodsy accompaniment, Clairo lets her finite love be destroyed in the chorus as she sings, “I love you now/Til it all fall apart.” Stream “now” below.

Despite her complete lack of Bandcamp activity since 2016, the singer’s decision to return to the platform was most likely due to the philanthropic intent of releasing the demo. Her choice of patrons in both For The Gworls and Everytown holds immediate significance as the song comes after International Transgender Day of Vision on March 31 and the tragic Nashville school shooting on March 27 that claimed the lives of three children and three adult staff.
