This week, BTS’ Jimin ushered us into the club with the title track for his new solo project.
The new solo release by Jimin of BTS begins with a whisper. “I didn’t think we could go on forever,” a woman breathes as Jimin’s tender vocals in the background. The man’s voice replies, “I’m afraid it’s all gone.” Jimin’s signature misstep leads the listener into the poem, but from there, things don’t stay quiet for long.
“Like Crazy” is the focus Face, Jimin’s first solo project, which is now available in full today, March 24th. The song is energetic, driving, and a little intoxicating, and the music video underscores it all with a good night out in a dark club. Champagne flows, bodies write, and Jimin alternates between taking part in the festivities and wandering through the crowd like a sleepwalking stranger.

Press notes that accompanied Face He confirmed that the title of the song is a nod to the 2011 film like mad, a story of on-again, off-again lovers separated by distance, visa problems, and the constant flow of time. While the song doesn’t necessarily delve into the same themes, there’s a similar kind of yearning present here — Jimin from “Like Crazy” is clearly searching for something, filling his time with the distractions and people highlighted in the music video. “This is going to break me,” he shouts in the chorus, a sharp contrast to the upbeat sound and techno colors projected onto the screen. He repeats: “Lost in the lights / I’ve lost my mind”.
BTS’ second chapter is full of unexpected directives from the members’ individual releases: J-Hope Gone Dark and Courageous. Jack in the box, For example. RM, an expert lyricist with a unique artistic perspective, filled his album, Indigo, with surprisingly powerful collaborations. Jimin continues the trend of keeping ARMYs on their toes with “Like Crazy,” leaning towards a more mature storyline than some might expect. Cheers.
