Mira Sorvino has blasted the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for leaving her late father, Paul Sorvino, out of the 2023 anniversary Oscars.
Mira Sorvino wrote, “It is incredibly baffling that my beloved father and so many other wonderful late actors have been left out.” Twitter. “I forgot about Paul Sorvino’s Oscars, but the rest of us never will!”
The tweet came after Mira Sorvino shared a clip on Instagram Sunday night of her memorable 1996 Best Supporting Actress acceptance speech. Mighty AphroditeShe thanked her father and made him cry. “On this Oscar night, I am so happy for all the nominees and winners, but I also get moved in a thousand different ways when I think of the night I shared an Oscar with my dad, the very fine actor Paul Sorvino, who was never nominated,” she wrote in the first caption. “For this first year after his death, it’s a bittersweet but truly beautiful memory.”

Following Paul Sorvino’s exclusion from the In Memoriam section, Mira Sorvino edited the post and added that she was “incredibly shocked and shocked that my father’s lifelong, irreplaceable, enormous contribution to the world of cinema has been overlooked by whoever made that list. We are his adoring family.” And you, his adoring fans, know just how unique and wonderful he was. Hopefully @theacademy will do something to make this right.”
In a statement provided to the people magazine, Paul Sorvino Dee Dee’s widow called on the academic to apologize for the exclusion. Paul Sorvino was one of the greatest actors in the history of Hollywood cinema. It is inconceivable that he was left out of the In Memoriam section of the Academy Awards,” she said. “It’s a three-hour show, they can’t give two more minutes to get it right.” ? Paul Sorvino spent decades in the industry and was loved by all.”
Paul Sorvino passed away at the age of 83 in July 2022 of natural causes. He is best known for his roles as Mafioso Don Paul Cicero Good guysHenry Kissinger in Nixonand Sgt. Frank Sirita in Law and order.

Other notable omissions from the In Memoriam segment include Anne Heche and Charlbi Dean (the latter starred in a Best Picture nominee. Sadness triangle). Leslie Jordan, Gilbert Gottfried, Cindy Williams, and the recently passed Tom Sizemore weren’t mentioned on the telecast either. However, Sorvino and the aforementioned actors are memorialized on the Oscar website.
